Human Rights & Civil Liberties
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights recognizes that “the inherent dignity and . . . the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.” Despite our best efforts, there is still much work that needs to be done in ensuring the rights of all peoples are protected.
AUWCL has one of the top human rights programs in the nation and is the home of the Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, the Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, the International Human Rights Law Clinic, the UNROW Human Rights Impact Litigation Clinic, and the Human Rights Brief. In this light, the law school has partnered with several prominent foreign institutions to provide students the opportunity to study and acquire the practical skills needed to address the human rights issues affecting today’s world.
In addition to the international human rights courses offered through the programs listed below, students can also find classes on civil liberties, immigration, gender, and disability among others.
