The Universidad del Rosario ("Rosario") in Bogotá, Colombia was founded in 1653 for the study of philosophy, theology, law, and medicine. Since its founding the institution has been "of" and "for" its students. The school's mission has been and continues to be an ongoing effort "To impart a solid ethical, humanistic and scientific education, which combined with research and a demanding and rigorous faculty, allows the educational community to develop distinguished citizens who act for the benefit of the society, with a strong sense of responsibility."
Students acquire the ability to describe, analyze, evaluate and interpret the various provisions of national and international legal systems. The law school allows for specialization in several areas of law such as International Law, Commercial Law, Civil Law, Criminal Law, and Administrative Law. The law school has also begun and continues to develop the process of globalization and has several agreements with schools in the U.S. and Europe which allow students to participate in exchange and dual-degree programs.
The official language of instruction at the Universidad Sergio Arboleda is Spanish. Students applying to the program must submit proof of Spanish proficiency.
Students with undergraduate or graduate studies in a Spanish speaking country must show the certificate or degree obtained within the last five years.
Students with Spanish majors (in the US) must have obtained their degree within the last five years and must provide a copy of their degree and undergraduate transcript(s).
Students who are not in the conditions mentioned above are required to take a Spanish proficiency exam through the Language Department at AU and provide us with their results on the exam. Students must complete the exam within 30 minutes and test into the Third Year (300 Level).
Students will receive up to 12 credits towards their law degree. Only the credits and not the grades will transfer per ABA requirements. The acceptance of any credit or grade for any courses taken at the Universidad Sergio Arboleda, including externships and other clinical offerings, is subject to determination by the AUWCL Office of the Registrar.
