As the United States’ neighbors to the North and South, it is important for lawyers to understand the impact Canada and Mexico have on the U.S. domestically and internationally. The North American Free Trade Agreement helped make Canada the United States’ largest trading partner and Mexico its third largest. Beyond international trade and business law, the United States’ relationship with Canada and Mexico touches upon areas of law such as environmental law, human rights law, indigenous rights, civil rights, cyber law, and intellectual property. With students’ interests in mind, AUWCL has forged relationships with premier institutions that allow students to develop skills in the areas of law that they, as well as AUWCL, find to be important and vital in today’s global legal profession. AUWCL offers semester exchange programs in London, Canada, Ottawa, Canada and Mexico City, Mexico.
